美國總統歐巴馬10日證實，遭中東聖戰恐怖組織「伊斯蘭國」（IS）挾持的美國女性人質凱拉．珍．穆勒，已經喪生。歐巴馬並向穆勒家屬發出慰問信。
IS曾於7日宣稱，穆勒已在約旦軍機空襲敘利亞拉卡市行動中被炸死，但約旦當局質疑IS的說法，甚至斥責這是IS的宣傳伎倆。穆勒從事人道救援工作，於2013年在敘利亞遭IS綁架。
白宮發言人說，穆勒家人上周末接獲挾持穆勒的IS私下通知，表示她已喪生，消息業經美國情報單位確認。不過歐巴馬信中並未提及穆勒是如何死亡。
